banksy hits up a chelsea gallery

Banksy had a month-long exhibit last month at the Vanina Holasek Gallery, which I was very fortunate enough to have gotten the chance to see.

I wasn't sure at first how I felt about Banksy, a once-unknown "street artist" from a sleepy cow-town in England, displaying framed, matted recreations of his graffiti and selling them for $40k a pop. He did provide a B.O.G.O.F.F super-deal though, which was really funny to me:

And finally, my favorite picture from the Banksy exhibit. I was trying to take a picture of his framed counterfeit Priness Di moolah, when I noticed the reflection of the American flag in the frame, as well as in other reflections all around... Weird.

It's cool how Banksy has been able to turn something he loves doing into something that also helps him pay the bills and fund his next "big thing." Banksy in a gallery? All the more power to him.

changes in 2008

Happy New Year, friends! I'm such a delinquent on this blog, and lots of you have been calling that to my attention... Well, sorry for the radio silence! I have been thinking a lot about what I want this blog to be about (some of you told me I think TOO MUCH about it...), and I KNOW I have a tendency to overthink things sometimes... but I want this blog to be about the cool things I see and the cool things that inspire me, not just a blog about myself. Not that there's anything wrong with personal blogs about people's lives! Actually, I love reading all of yours - I guess I just don't like writing them about myself. I feel so...exposed. So my blog is changing a bit - for the better. And I'll definitely try and post more frequently. And please keep on reading.
